Apricot & White Shibori Indian Cotton Bedspread

A lively apricot & white bedspread with an unusual & vibrant tie dyed shibori pattern.

Shibori is a style of tie dye where the fabric is tightly clamped between boards before dyeing so that the dye penetrates only into part of the cotton. The result is a dramatic semi linear irregular striated pattern. The beauty of shibori is in the partly unpredictable pattern that results.

Japan is famous for an ancient tradition of indigo shibori dyeing.

The bedspread is overstitched with lines of kantha stitching that run from top to botton & are also seen on the white reverse side.

From time to time we get a bedspread that is completely different - we have to resist the temptation to keep it! This is one of those!
