A vintage striped kantha throw that has been shibori tie dyed in deep indigo bands.
This tightly stitched vintage kantha has fine woven stripes running one way and strong bands of indigo running the other, creating a very dramatic and unique piece of textile art.
Part of the attraction of vintage kanthas of this quality and age is that small areas of the outermost cotton have been worn away revealing the colours of inner layers - in the same way that artists sometimes scrape away outer layers of paint to reveal a previous layer.
Shown on top of the reverse side of a dark blue bedspread with kantha stitching.
