Indian Painting of Black Necked Cranes

A beautiful painting of a pair of black necked cranes in the Indian miniature painting style.

The birds are painted against a blue backdrop of sky and lake. One is standing erect, the other is drinking with neck down. Urdu lettering top and bottom of the painting is against a gold background.
Black necked cranes are magnificent, beautiful large cranes that you may encounter in some regions of the extended Tibetan plateau. We've seen a pair in the lakes of Eastern Ladakh, another near Samye monastery in Tibet and more recently a injured pair in a sanctuary in central Bhutan. 
Black necked cranes form life long pairing bonds; their departures and arrivals on their annual migrations are cause for great celebration among the local people.
