This Mithila painting shows a man greeting three women bearing gifts.

I confess to be speculating that it's wedding! There is certainly a joyful sense to the scene, one women is bringing a gift of a bird on her outstretched hand.

The skin colours are in a lovely rich brown, the clothes are in soft pinks & blues, made with natural dyes from plants and minerals. The man wears fine yellow trousers.

Bells and flowers are hanging from a fluted canopy.
