Very Old Curved Panel with Three Buddhas
These curved panels made from wood covered with dried clay have three images of the seated Buddha with bowl.
There is little detail in the Buddha figures, which adds to their appeal. The Buddha is seated cross legged in meditation. In his lap, held by his hands is a bowl which can be seen either as a begging bowl or containing the essence of Enlightenment.
The material appears to be wood with a coating of dried mud and this item was possibly recovered when a building was demolished. Probably from Nepal or Himachal Pradesh in northern India.
