Rose Silk Woven Wallhanging from Laos

A superb, unique and very fine handwoven silk wall hanging from Laos.

Two intricate geometric squares in offset colours and positions create a dynamic effect that sits perfectly with the toning colours of rose and pale gold. Partly translucent, this also makes for a perfect piece to hang in the window. The small oval slubs are actually silk cocoons that have been woven into the design.

The weavers in Luang Prabhang grow their own silkworms and prepare their own natural dyes from locally occurring plants and minerals - weaving in Laos is a true cottage industry!
