Vintage Silk Chakla

This lovely silk chakla has been in my personal collection for over 30 years and is clearly much older than that.

The square is divided into four squares each of which has an individual collection of toning layers of beautiful appliqued details. One of the silk panels has some additional embroidered floral designs.

The silk is very fine and there is some wear where the indigo dyed silk has perished - which is probably to be expected. A truly lovely and unique item, one of the last pieces from the collection we gathered together in India in the 1970's.
