Regular price £25.00

A photo of the Birak ki Baoli stepwell and shrine, another of the hidden gems of Bundi.

At the bottom of the main steps under the bell is a shrine to the man who built it and died shortly after its completion. The caretaker keeps the oil lamp burning, and around the upper steps and entrance to the well there are several red flags and spears of Shiva devotees.

This design is typical of several stepwells in Bundi in having a long flight of steps leading down to a platform from which steep narrow steps descend down a vertical pit.

The Birak ki Baoli features in our slideshow of the Stepwells of Bundi.

Portrait format. The second (taller, thinner) image is the one you get.
