Circular Balconies at the Dada Hari Vav | Stepwell Photos

Regular price £25.00

Looking down over the carved balconies at the Dada Hari stepwell.

A quiet, well maintained and very beautiful well in Ahmedabad, five storeys deep and with unusual spiral staircases that lead to the bottom level. Built in 1499.
This view looks down carved octagonal balconies to a square sunken pool, the actual well shaft is a few metres beyond and connected with a tunnel.

No-one was here when we arrived, nonetheless a stern cleric from the nearby madrassa forbade us to use a tripod for the camera. The madrassa is about 50 metres away across an open space.
