A photo of the Gomang Stupa hidden away in the back lanes of Changspa, Leh, Ladakh.
Hidden behind the shops and cafes along Changspa Lane is the lovely old village of Changspa and the delightful Gomang Stupa which dates from the 9th century.
Surrounded by a low wall, poplar trees, smaller stupas and a few very old carved stones depicting the Buddha, it’s a delightful and peaceful place overlooked by a couple of small guest houses. One approach to it leads you through covered passages and alleys of old Changspa.
I make sure to visit whenever I go to Leh and often think about taking a room in the guest house.
Landscape format. 2008.
