A photo of the reflections in the water at the Mahila Baag Jhalra stepwell at Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Built in the grounds of a garden and orchard by a concubine of an 18th century Maharaja, the elegant Mahila Baag Jhalra stepwell is hemmed in by other buildings which you can see in the reflections.
It's a pretty little well with chairs and pavilions in two of the corners. When I was there it was half-full of water but earlier photos show its true depth. Jodhpur has a sophisticated system of underground water tanks which keep the water fresh; tiny fish were easily spotted in the water.
The friendly caretaker calls himself the Maharaja of the Stepwell. Who's to argue!
