Nagpuria Baoli, Narnaul, Rajasthan

Regular price £25.00

A photo of the half flooded Nagpuria Baoli stepwell at Narnaul, Rajasthan.

Built relatively late, in 1880, and now very overgrown and almost impossible to find - thank you Google maps! It’s also silted up and full of water, yet only a few years ago was in good condition.

A nicely painted Mughal flower decorates one arch, the shadows beyond the arch indicate other chambers and a side door suggests a stairway leading to lower levels. Sad to see the neglect but its atmospheric, and an inaccessible blue painted courtyard to the rear hints at previous glory.

The name may be derived from it possibly being built by a local man who made his fortune in Nagpur.

Within walking distance from Mirza Ali Jaon ka Takht Baoli.
