Red Fort Stepwell number 2, Delhi, Stepwell Photos
Another view of the L shaped baoli at the Red Fort, Delhi.
This image of the Red Fort stepwell shows the view from the pool at the bottom of the steps.
Thousands of people visit the Red Fort but hardly anyone visits this charming, unusual L shaped baoli which is tucked away near the old barracks. Other than a low wall and a small sign there is nothing to indicate its presence. The gate is locked which is locked earlier than the Fort gates.
Two sets of steps descend to the water levels, the circular well shaft is off to one side.
The well is said to predate the Red Fort by 300 years. It was temporarily used as a prison to hold several officers of the Indian army at the time of partition.
