Beautiful Large Warli Painting of Three Trees
Regular price
£100.00
A superb Warli painting of three large trees, birds & villagers in white on a reddish brown background.
At its simplest this is a very elegant painting of one large tree flanked by two smaller trees of a different species. Birds fly across the sky above the tree while at the bottom of the painting there are small white figures of animals and people. One of the people is blowing the Tarpa, a bottle gourd and bamboo musical instrument that is sacred to the Warli people.
Like all Warli paintings it's made with white rice milk paste applied with a wooden stick on a cotton cloth coated with a thin layer of reddish brown mud - and like all Warli paintings it's a unique piece and a depiction of the artist's vision of village life.
It is painted on heavier cotton cloth and signed by the artist.
Portrait format. Canvas dimensions: W63 H90cm
