Olive coloured Warli Painting featuring a Tiger | Warli Painting
A Warli painting from India with village scenes and a tiger.
All sorts of activities are going on in this Warli painting of a village scene but the central focus is of several villagers making obeisance to a striped animal that appears to be a tiger. It's unusual in being on a dark olive-coloured background rather than the more common rust colour.
Elsewhere in the painting there are trees, birds, people cooking and preparing food, dancing and making music.
The Warli artists use a rice milk paste applied with a fine stick to make white drawings onto cloth treated with mud and animal dung.
Landscape format. Dimensions: 55cm x 42cm
