Black Warli Painting of Tree & Villagers
Regular price
£80.00
An unusual black Warli painting of a central tree with birds & villagers going about village life.
A delightful Warli painting of a central tree; possibly a peepal tree judging by the leaves. Numerous birds are flying above the tree; some birds are pecking at the fruit. The tree roots are beautifully visible and under the tree villagers are involved in different activities: sawing wood, making baskets, smoking; a woman is carrying a baby, another is cooking. There is a hen with chickens; two bullocks are walking round in a circle threshing grains.
White rice paste paint on a black earth background on calico cloth.
Almost square format. Canvas dimensions: W48 H52cm
