Tall Himalayan Statue from Nepal
A tall wooden statue with well defined geometric carving on the torso and top of the head. The flattened facial features, closed eyes and relaxed smile suggest a possibly Tibetan influence.
This carved wooden figure will have been used to ward off spirits or protect a house; two cavities in the abdomen have spaces to place offerings such as rice or flowers.
Black wood with a nice patina. A third central figure is missing.
From the Indian Himalaya, possibly Magar tribe from Western Nepal.
Dimensions: Height 68cm.
