Looking for a "Japanese" theme in a fabric warehouse in Rajasthan we found this beautiful fabric printed with the wonderful birds called black necked cranes. Black neck cranes are regarded as sacred birds; they migrate from the high altitude landscapes of Tibet and Ladakh to winter in the lower altitudes of Bhutan. We encountered these wonderful birds in a valley in Bumthang, central Bhutan, in autumn 2024 at the start of their migration season. Their arrival in late October and early November is regarded by Buddhists in Bhutan as an auspicious sign, a blessing.
