Geometric Embroidered Chakla from Gujarat
An embroidered chakla, or wallhanging, from Gujarat with the typical satin stitch of the region of Saurashtra.
The geometric pattern takes the form of a square mandala and is beautifully executed on a white field surrounded by a vibrant embroidered border of lozenges with a further plain black border.
The chakla is at least 50 years old and there is some faint bleeding of the red dye and minor discolouration of the white cloth. The stitch work is in perfect condition.
Also in the photograph is a Decorative Low Wooden Chair.
Dimensions: Approx 85cm square
