Black & White Gond Painting of Tiger, Tree & Birds

All sorts of crosshatching bring out the details of the tiger's head and tail, the birds and the tree trunks and leaves in this classic Gond drawing. Two birds are sitting on the tiger, one on it's head another on it's back.

The painting is signed by Aatma Ramshyam, 2005.

The idea of animal and tree forms being part of the same force of nature is typical of the Gond artists who paint the world as they experience it living in the forests of central India.
