Green Warli Painting; Tree, Peacock & Villagers
Regular price
£75.00
An unusual Warli painting on dark green cloth of a peacock sitting in a beautiful tree above village scenes.
This is only the second time we've found a Warli painting on green cloth instead if the usual reddish brown. It's a beautiful painting: birds are walking along the top branches of a beautiful central tree while sitting in the tree are more birds and a large peacock displaying all its tail feathers.
On the ground below a man is playing a Tarpa, the unique wind instrument of the Warli people for a group that are holding hands performing the sacred Tarpa dance.
White rice paste paint on a dark green background on calico cloth.
Square format. Canvas dimensions: W50 H50cm
