Indian Miniature Painting of a Pale Gold Dress

A beautiful vintage painting of a pale gold dress with gold embroidery on the bodice and green tassels.

This painting by Mukesh, a delightful 4th generation painter of Indian miniatures, is on old sepia coloured paper from the Government of Bundi in Rajasthan.

This has been painted with the finest brush strokes - in fact they're so fine you can't see the individual brush strokes without a magnifying glass. The dress is painted with  elaborate gold embroidery decoration on the bodice; the skirt is full and heavily pleated.

If you have good eyesight and have the patience to look carefully you'll find Mukesh' signature in the detail on the bodice.

The paper is stamped with '1 anna' which indicates its age. There is hand written Urdu script on both sides.
