A beautiful vintage kantha throw with small woven patterns & shibori tie dyed with purple & indigo.
This tightly stitched vintage kantha has been tie dyed with indigo & purple to create a striated pattern that looks like a detail of the night sky with a central circle & forur smaller circles. One side has a large pale circular area and the reverse has a purple circular zone, both sides have a & rippled radiating pattern.
Part of the attraction of vintage kanthas of this quality and age is that small areas of the outermost cotton have been worn away revealing the colours of inner layers - in the same way that artists sometimes scrape away outer layers of paint to reveal a previous layer.
Like all the Shibori Kanthas this is a unique piece, one only!
