Silk bandhani scarves - Assorted Colours
Greens and purple tie-dyed silk scarves
These beautiful soft silk scarves in vibrant colours are made by an intriguing process called Bandhini.
The fabric is gathered up in places and tied with cotton threads before being dyed. Where the fabric is gathered the dye doesn't penetrate leaving a pattern of white or different coloured dots.
In January 2019 we watched this process in the friendly Gujarati town of Wadwhan - for an insight into Bandhani work you can read our blog Tied up in Knots - the Bandhani Textiles of Gujarat.
