Silk Kantha Shawls, Rust and Darker Tones
Reversible silk shawls with lines of Kantha stitching.
These silk shawls from India are made from beautiful printed sari materials with additional kantha stitching. They are reversible so you can drape them to see a flash of the reverse side - two scarves in one!
Kantha is a type of running stitch popular throughout India but especially in Bengal where these scarves originate.
The tradition in the villages of Bengal is to upcycle old saris into shawls, locally called dupattas, and bed quilts.
They are exquisite pieces of fabric that also make unique wallhangings and can look good along the back of a sofa.
Order by number. When you place the order, the correct code will be shown but the image will be of scarf SL6 - don't worry about the image, we'll know which scarf you want!
