Vintage Afghan Kuchi Nomad Spoon Bag
Regular price £60.00
This unusual hanging from Afghanistan is a spoon bag that would be used in a nomad tent.
If you're packing up your tent and the contents of your household every few days you'll need convenient ways to store and move your belongings. This deep madder red bag would be used to store your spoons.
I'm not sure of the correct term for the method of construction of this bag; the closest I can say is that it looks like crochet with tassels.
For those without tents it makes an unusual wall hanging.
Dyed with a deep purple-maroon colour probably extracted from onion skins.
Late 20th century. Excellent condition, some fading due to sunlight on the reverse side.
