Peacock Panel Wooden Carving
A vintage decorative carved Indian wooden wall panel with peacocks and a vase of flowers.
Peacocks are one of the most popular images of Moghul India. This carving was probably once part of the headboard of a colonial four-poster bed.
The carving shows two peacocks facing other, each holding in its beak a branch with two oval berries above an elegant vase containing two flower stems, each with large round berries.
A beautiful, elegant piece of wood carving in a dark, mahogany coloured wood worn to a very pleasing tactile smoothness over a period of time. Read more in our blog Peacock Designs in Indian Furniture and Decorative Art.
