Drawing of the Buddha at Samye | Photos from Tibet

Regular price £25.00

Photo of an outline drawing of the Buddha in pale brown lines on an ivory wall at Samye Monastery, Tibet.

I love this beautifully drawn image of the Buddha, on a wall on the top floor of the main temple building at Samye Monastery in Tibet.
The Buddha is seated in meditation posture with a bowl in his lap. The only colour other than the soft brown lines on the plaster wall is the Buddha's hair which has been coloured in the deep vibrant blue of Lapis Lazuli.

The photo was taken in 2014. It's possible that other colours have been painted in since then but the simplicity of this outline drawing gets to the heart of the image and shows the skill of the artist.
