Gold Painted Tibetan Thangka

The Earth Touching Buddha sits at the centre of the eight spokes of the wheel of the Dharma in this gold Thangkha.

This painting is full of tiny detail that only becomes apparent with a magnifying glass or close up photo. There are Tantric beings, fierce protector deities, some in yab yum embrace with their consorts; visceral scenes from the animal and hell realms in addition to liquid abstract patterns.

This was bought around 1980 in the Kathmandu valley.
