Panorama West of Nigutse La | Photos of Ladakh

An atmospheric photo of the clouds and panoramic view west of the Nigutse La pass in Ladakh.

As part of a longer route we’ve made the three-day trek from Kanji to Photoksar on two occasions and experienced bad weather each time. Bad weather and low cloud occasionally parted to reveal stunning pinnacled landscapes of beautiful contours and multicoloured hills.
Our path can be faintly seen heading west in the middle of the photo curling round to the right towards the black ground and our base camp ahead of the 5200m pass, the Nigutse La.
We’d planned to cross the pass in one day but bad weather and an unpredicted 12-hour trek two days before (completed by the light of iPhones) had fatigued us.
