Roaring Tiger stepwell is also called Dhabhai Kund.

Roaring Tiger stepwell is so named because a tiger slipped and fell into the well; none of the villagers could rescue the tiger. The well is well-maintained by the local people and a popular place to come and pray or leave small devotional offerings.

Dhabhai Kund is a beautiful well made from five different colours of stone. For many people in Bundi, it's their favourite well.

Bundi is a beautiful small town in Rajasthan famous for having over a hundred stepwells though many are in disrepair. We managed to visit five on a visit in February 2017, many are hard to find and of little interest to the local people.

Architectural marvels, they tend to fall into two types: an upside down stepped pyramid like this one or a long stepped trench leading down to a small tunnel accessible only at low water. The tunnel then leads to an adjacent circular well shaft.
