Tibetan Dungchen Longhorn

Regular price £170.00

These Tibetan dungchen, sometimes called longhorns, are one of the abiding images of Tibetan monasteries.

These superb collapsible Tibetan Dungchen Longhorns have a blackened copper body with brass decoration, enhanced with small coloured stones.

The Tibetan longhorn produces the otherworldly sound characteristic of Tibetan Pujas and rituals. Very long Dungchen are often blown on the rooftops of monasteries to announce to the communities that the monks are being called to prayer; the sound can travel for miles.

Puja is a Meditation Ritual on one of the Bodhisattvas or Buddhas. It is a ceremony in which prayers are offered to the Buddhas to request their blessings or invoke their help.

The photos show three dunchen of different sizes. They come in three collapsible sections and can be shortened by sliding one section inside another.
