Mani Wall & Stupa, Chendebji, Bhutan

Photo of Chendebji Chorten, Bhutan

Regular price £25.00

Descending on the road to Trongsa in central Bhutan we came across this beautiful chorten at Chendebji.

This chorten is based on the Swayabunath stupa in Kathmandu; the eyes look in the four cardinal directions. It was built in the 18th century by a lama from Tibet to cover an evil spirit. A beautiful location and an auspicious day: the monks were raising a tall prayer flag in memory of the wife of one of the local villagers, recently passed away.
