Photo of a rupa, or statue of Padmasambhava with strange light patterns at Mangyu monastery.

Mangyu is one of the oldest small monasteries in Ladakh; some of the art was probably made by the same artists who created the images at nearby Alchi.

Above the main temples is the Guru Lhakhang, or Padmasambhava chapel, where this statue was illuminated by dusty shafts of lights through high windows.
