In March 2018 I went to India in search of more stepwells in Rajathan, amazing subterranean buildings that have fascinated me for many years and are my current photographic project. From Delhi to Bundi via Neemrana.
In March 2018 I resumed my search for the subterranean architectures of western India known as stepwells. This took me near a village called Viratnagar, close to the location of an old Buddhist site called Bhairat.
About 20 years ago I saw an image of an astonishing subterranean building, it turned out to be a stepwell, an extraordinary architectural wonder. It's taken me many years to find them as they're hidden from view.
Jodhpur is one of the old fortress towns of Rajasthan, the western state of India that borders Pakistan. It is a place of great beauty and many of the iconicand colourful images of India come from Rajasthan.
