Celebration of a special kantha quilt that we sold this week.
For the last 50 years we've been selling wonderful items of great beauty but occasionally we have something that's very special - something that we really don't want to sell! Something we want to keep. But we can't keep them all so it's always a mixed blessing when someone buys the item.
That's what happened this week. Both Kay and I wanted to keep this beautiful old kantha quilt that we bought a couple of years ago in Jaipur.
The other element of a kantha quilt is the lines of kantha stitching that act as the element that keeps the layers in place but which adds a further decorative detail.
Kanthas have two sides and the reverse side with geometric patterns is equally attractive.
