Sandstone & white marble chattris seem to float on the stepped water tank called Sagar Kund at Alwar.
The photo shows beautiful reflections of sandstone and white marble pavilions called chattris; they seem to float on the 8th century water tank at Alwar.
Steps to the water can be seen all round the lake and small rowing boats are anchored near one of the pavilions.
On the far side of the lake are unusual ochre and pale blue painted houses occupied by government officers who work in the offices that now fill the erstwhile Royal Palace. In the far background are forested hills which are the source of the water.
Not only could you bathe in the water, cool air from the water drifted through the open lattice windows of the Palace. Bathing seems to be no longer permitted, a guardian patrols the tank chasing any adventurous young lads with a large lathi cane.
