A photo of the meditating hands of a Jain Statue carved into the rockface at Gwalior, central India.
The Muslim fort at Gwalior had a tolerant ruler in the 15th century who encouraged the carving of huge Jain statues into the rock face leading up to the fort. This carving shows the meditating Tirthankir supported on a lion throne, with hands folded in the classic meditation posture.
