Trongza is a strategic 17th century fort between Paro and Thimpu, the two main towns of Bhutan.
Trongza Dzong is a massive complex of administrative and monastic buildings well placed to control the trade and monitor one time unfriendly forces in Bhutan.
We spent an afternoon exploring the rooms, courtyards, corridors and chapels and were given blessings by a monk who became aware of the strength of our Buddhist practice. We stayed beyond closing time and witnessed the unrolling of the huge Thangkha in this courtyard in preparation for the following day's festival.
